Caring for Original Watercolor Paintings and Prints

It is important to choose acid-free materials when matting and framing your artwork. A reputable framer knows this, but be sure to ask specifically for acid-free.  This will keep your painting from discoloring over time.  Conservation glass is an another option to discuss with your framer.

It is also recommended that an original watercolor not be hung in areas of high humidity (such as a bathroom).

Fluorescent lighting can cause a print to discolor over time as can exposure to prolonged, direct sunlight.
